Awesome April!
I have just seen the book,"The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed", and it is awesome! I could NOT put this book down. Beautifully done, thoughtful, insightful and visually rich! Be prepared to set aside some quiet time away from all distractions when you finally get your hands on this book!
The author, Seth Apter, will be visiting Bellevue Art & Frame on May 5 for a book signing, along with a few of the featured artists. I will also be there...
The original art of mine that is featured in this book, "Marilyn", will be on display in April and May at the lovely Fraker/Scott Gallery in downtown Seattle (Pioneer Square). Come on down to the First Thursday Art Walk this Thursday, April 5, from 5-8 pm!
I hope to see you at one or both of these events!

March is turning out to be a great month! Teaching classes and published work!

What's not to love about March? Here's what's happening at JonesMoore Studio Art:
- teaching a mixed media workshop, The Altered Landscape, on March 30 at Schack Art Center in Everett, Washington
- teaching another great workshop, Extreme Encaustic Basics, at Schack Art Center, April 6
- The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed, is now published! I am one of the 100+ artists featured in this wonderful book by NY mixed media artist and blogger, Seth Apter. Please visit his blog every day during the month of March to read interviews with some of the featured artists! The Altered Page (click here)
- working on two commissioned collage pieces for a wonderful national non-profit organization
- My beautiful daughter, Jen, turns 21 this weekend!
My job at Schack Art Center, both as as art class coordinator and instructor, continues to present both joys and challenges, similar to raising a child for the first time! I am so fortunate to be able to work in my field and teach art at such a beautiful facility. Schack opened less than one year ago, and is now a major destination for artists, art lovers and "seekers and learners" who want to know how to find one's way down the creative path. If you are anywhere near Seattle, you must drive north to Everett to visit this incredible art center.

Trying to find beauty in cold, dark days...
All photos were taken within a couple of blocks of my home. The cactus shot was taken at Molbak's in Woodinville, Washington. Copyright 2011, 2012 Lisa JonesMoore
Cold, windy, dreary...too chilly to open the studio windows and use encaustic paints. I guess it's time for organizing the studio. Interesting times arranging all of my power and hand tools into "vintage" tool boxes I've been collecting for years. This is creative, right??

Goodbye January (good riddance!)...
Due to major snow storms, ice storms, wind storms, power outages, refrigerator and furnace failures, and a car accident ("totaled" my poor Prius) I have not been able to sit down and write a good blog post. But, I am STILL STANDING! I will make up for lack of posts soon! I took time this weekend to be thankful for my life, family and friends. I walked in the sunshine, sifted sand through my fingers, felt warmth on my cheeks, slid on two "slats" in the snow, and called every one of my dear friends and family members. This is what life truly is...little "wake-up calls" that kinda add up to one big "yell" from the Universe.
Thanks for your infinite patience! I do have so much to share for the coming year...
