Sold, but not forgotten...

Well, I just completed this very personal piece, and, yes, it SOLD!. The title is "The Dream: Release", and the vision did come to me in a dream. And yes, I am fantasizing about "escape" and "release" lately (how selfish of me)! This was done in encaustic with graphite, oil pastel, metallic powders and glass "threads". The squares are all done with hand-made stencils and are "raised" from the surface. Time to do another one! Hope you enjoy...

Thanks to Alex Strazzanti of Seattle for your beautiful (and quick) professional photos!

In the studio...

Ongoing work in the studio! These are "detail" shots of ongoing, sea-themed encaustic work I am pursuing in the studio. My main inspiration? My trip to gorgeous Loreto, Mexico in March. The desert-meets-Sea of Cortez colors, awesome sea life and natural elements. The TEXTURES there are mind-blowing, begging to be included in encautic wax! More work to come...

Our warm Seattle weather, birdsong, buzzing bees and Cinco de Mayo all reminding me of the gentle atmosphere, people and landscape of Loreto, Mexico...

Don't miss it! I will be selling old stuff (pastel landscapes and still lifes), new stuff (encaustic and mixed media), old books (GREAT for altered books) and lots of DETRITUS from my studio! My space is inside, in the main hallway by the classrooms. Get there early, or you may lose out. I plant to take NOTHING back home with me.

Incredible Book Arts show at Schack Art Center!

I have several pieces in this show, all dear to my heart (as most artist books are). This show is just stunning, with so many examples (from many talented book artists) of what a "Book" can become. Area K-12 students will be able to take it all in through Schack Art Center's sponsored program of field trips, put on by our education director, Nancy Bell. Don't miss it! The show runs through May 28.

Schack Art Center is located at 2921 Hoyt, Everett, WA. For more information, please visit www.schack.org
