Happy Birthday Dad...

Dear Dad, today would have been your 94th birthday! If you were still here you would have scolded me for saying this in public! I still dream of our fishing and camping trips together, backpacking trips and eating out of a peanut butter jar in the rain. I still wonder what happened to that string of 20 trout I dropped to the bottom of 11 Mile Reservoir in Colorado...still remember how you very patiently extracted that fish hook from my thumb, and sitting in the car during thunderstorms while our fishing lines were still in the water...the Cessna flight to Pueblo, Colorado, you flew with me, grinning at my strange shade of 'green' while winds buffeted us along the front range of the Rockies. I love you Dad.

  4. Lisa, I am so glad I logged on today and saw this. I too have great memories of your mom and dad both - both very alive, exciting, and memorable folks. I remember how he was so patient that year I went with your family to Arkansas. Such a gentlemen. All the way from Colorado to Arkansas in a car with three yacky women - what a saint! Ha. He was always the voice of calm and intelligance. Smile. LOve ya;ll - Jana Shumate

  6. Hey Lisa, my Dad would have been 94 this year, too. August 10th. It was so strange to say that number, 94. It is still just as strange having Dad gone for the past 14 years. My best to you, Laurie Z.
