Long live Dia de los Muertos!

MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR...

I took these photos, and 450 more, during my visit in 2007 to Oaxaca, Mexico with Michael DeMeng & Co. for a wonderful 10 days of art-making and artisan tours and mezcal-tasting! Part of me is still there...

Craving sand, salt and sunshine...winter at the coast!

Yes, I feel it coming...walking on cold, crisp sand with the sound of surf and seabirds and the ever-so-gratifying crunch of old crab shells underfoot, beach detritus treasures and wild, far-away fantasies. Numb face. Hot drinks. Long afternoons of gin rummy...

Beaches in the Pacific Northwest winter are not to be beat. Total places of imagination, longing.

Incredible days with wax and photos!

Wonderful work from fantastic students during the 2-day workshop, Photo Imagery in Wax, at Schack Art Center. They have already requested a "part 2" class! I had an inspiring 2 days of adventurous students and lots of FUN! It never ceases to amaze me how willing students are to try NEW things. I am truly inspired by them...

A fantastic day of wax with beginning students!

A FABULOUS  day of hot wax on August 25 at Schack Art Center! I really enjoyed my beginning encaustic students, willing to forge ahead into unknown territory! I am thoroughly amazed at their willingness to experiment. And, for myself, very thankful I can teach again, following a very challenging knee injury. I am truly blessed...

An art day with a wonderful friend!

I was so fortunate to have an Art Day with my wonderful art buddy, Delorse. She worked on her ever-evolving gorgeous sketchbooks and I on my encaustic "Venus" series. It's been so long since I have been able to devote 4 hours to art, due to my recent knee injury. But things are looking up!!

On Saturday, I was able to teach a 5 hour encaustic workshop, Extreme Encaustic Basics. I had fantastic, eager students, all ready to experiment with this wonderful medium!

The sun is shining, the wax is warm, ideas for new artwork are flowing and all is good again with the world...
