An art day with a wonderful friend!

I was so fortunate to have an Art Day with my wonderful art buddy, Delorse. She worked on her ever-evolving gorgeous sketchbooks and I on my encaustic "Venus" series. It's been so long since I have been able to devote 4 hours to art, due to my recent knee injury. But things are looking up!!

On Saturday, I was able to teach a 5 hour encaustic workshop, Extreme Encaustic Basics. I had fantastic, eager students, all ready to experiment with this wonderful medium!

The sun is shining, the wax is warm, ideas for new artwork are flowing and all is good again with the world...

Where is Schack Art Center, you're probably asking yourself? It's located in downtown Everett, Washington, just 40 minutes north of Seattle. It's a beautiful, vibrant, new art center, complete with multi-purpose classrooms, a flame and kiln studio, as well as a full "blown" hot shop for glass (no pun intended :) Learn more about our exhibitions, classes and workshops here: www.schack.org

New work!

These pieces were done over the last three months. I am certainly having fun with encaustic wax, collage and mixed media such as powdered graphite, metallic powders, stencils and natural elements (birch bark!). The experimenting phase just never ends with encaustic, it's such an incredibly versatile medium...

You may see some of these at Hanson Scott Gallery in Seattle, 121 Prefontaine, in the Pioneer Square district.

Gone, but not for long!

I apologize for a whole month of blog "silence". I have had an unfortunate rendezvous with a wet, slippery sidewalk, resulting in an injury. I promise new posts are coming VERY soon. Thanks for your patience while I work through some "technical difficulties".
