Roadside Mary, near Loreto, Mexico, Lisa JonesMoore 2014

This humble shrine to the Virgin of Guadalupe stands on a lonely stretch of highway north of Loreto, Mexico and very is near the Bahia Concepcion (Bay of Conception). Bahia Concepcion os one of the most beautiful, rugged places on earth. The Virgin's simple beauty is stunning, and the offerings humble. Tonight is the Feast of the Virgin, celebrated throughout Mexico. I have such warm, loving memories of the people of San Miguel de Allende on this night-and especially of Susie, who opened her home, and heart, to us.

MANY THANKS to Rebecca Brooks for her challenge, 12 Days of the Virgin, it has been such a pleasure to revisit my Mexico images and memories, and to see what others are posting! Please visit Recuerda Mi Corazon for for "Mary Love".

  1. such a beautiful shrine and what a generous offering to place it next to the road for all to share in - i see the similarity between that shrine and our Twelve Days with Mary!

  2. hi lisa! i had some fun catching up this morning on your mary posts...
so many wonders to choose from...
i love the roadside shrines and wish i could have a shrine outside
all year long, for people to admire and maybe add to,
but not here, the weather is much too nasty most of the time.
    ♥ ♥ ♥

  3. And no graffiti too. I love that it is just randomly off of a roadside. Here, something like that would be vandalized to the point of destruction.

  4. really, on the side of the road?! Love that!

  5. dearest lover of all things mexico!
thank you times a thousand for following your heart and me to san miguel! that precious night with susie and the village posada was forgettable! thank you too for walking these days of love and light!
we will always have mexico!!!! xoxo
