Day 11: A Virgin a Day, Celebrating the 12 Days of the Virgin of Guadalupe

The Virgin of El Charco del Ingenio, San Miguel de Allende, by Lisa JonesMoore, 2014

On my last day of my magical trip to San Miguel de Allende in 2013, with the fabulous Rebecca Brooks, I decided to take a walk through El Charco del Ingenio, the gorgeous botanical gardens just outside of town. I was feeling travel-weary and over-stimulated, and needed to go to a place of natural beauty and quiet. Words cannot describe the utter beauty and stillness of this place. This humble image of the Virgin (and a foot) painted on a rock by the side of the path says it all: This Way, To the Virgin.

For more "Mary Love", and the 12 Days of the Virgin (celebrated throughout Mexico), visit Rebecca's blog, Recuerda Mi Corazon.

  1. I've walked through El Charco several times, and I never saw this image. Is it new? Amazing!

  4. That is sweet. It's good you found a peaceful place.

  5. Art is everywhere if we just have "the eyes" to see. This actually reminds me of an ancient cave painting. I am easily overstimulated myself and often have to retreat to quiet places--many of them right inside my house.

  6. Good catch-and understanding what the image meant! So many would've missed it on both counts.
