Rust and hand prints...it can't get much better than this. I'm CRAZY about this stuff! I wandered around the old bunkers at Fort Worden last weekend, in Port Townsend, Washington. It had been cloudy most of the day, but the sun popped out just in time to reveal the glorious colors of rust and old paint. ArtFest 2009 will be taking place there in about 3 weeks, I can't wait!
Hey Lisa, I'll look for you at ArtFest. What classes are you taking?
ReplyDeleteoh slobber and drool!!!!! I agree, I love this stuff, also! I also love to see what fascinations others have with their photo subjects -- mine are predominantly sconces and light fixtures, it seems, and peeling paint. Gates. Wrought iron. And old beat-up broke-down busted-out trucks. yea.
ReplyDeleteToni, I think we are experiencing a form of "wabi-sabi", which is basically the appreciation of beauty in the imperfections of aged and weathered items in their natural state. 'Wabi' means "peace, harmony, tranquility, balance", and 'sabi' means "bloom of time"...
ReplyDeleteGreat, Meri! Classes I'm taking are: Sas Colby/Thursday, Michael deMeng/Friday and LK Ludwig on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteLove your work, I hope to meet you at ArtFest this year. I was also in the IndieArts DVD mag. Daris Judd, www.darisjudd.com
ReplyDeleteThank you, Daris!! I'll be in Dorm 225 (ArtFest), on the side NOT facing the ocean. I'll try and post my name on my door...I'll look for you in my Indie Arts dvds.
